LRAC UPDATE

June 21, 2018

One of the most interesting things about being a parent to me is that I am finally able to exercise a unique aspect of being a Dad. I have grown up with a fairly loud voice, but I remember that when I was younger, I wasn't nearly as effective at speaking with my 'Dad Voice.' You know the sound of the Dad voice, just like you know that the 'Mom Look,' looks like. The Dad Voice commands respect and obedience, and if you're good at it, you can even get other peoples kids to listen too!

The reason that the Dad Voice works has everything to do with Authority. When someone speaks with Authority, it has the ring of command. My children know my voice, and they can tell by my tone, volume, and inflection when I'm not messing around.

This Sunday we're going to be continuing our Journey through Mark by examining Jesus' authority. In Mark 1, as Jesus begins his ministry, he speaks with the ultimate Dad Voice in some people's lives, and this begins to set him apart. What's remarkable is that Jesus share's his authority with us!

Come join us at 10:30 this Sunday. I look forward to seeing you.

In Christ,
Pastor Jacob
